Visitor visas / Subclass 601

Can I work or study on an ETA?

Visitor visas Subclass 601
Short answer

Usually no for work, except limited business visitor activity. Study is also limited, and visa-rule problems can put the ETA at risk.

An ETA does not allow ordinary work in Australia. It allows only business visitor activity, such as certain meetings, enquiries, negotiations or conferences, where the activity fits the visitor rules.

The ETA also has study and health-related visa rules. If Home Affairs has concerns that you are not visiting temporarily, intend to work, or have not followed the visa rules, the ETA may be at risk.
