Visitor visas / Subclass 600

What extra checks apply when a child applies for a Visitor visa?

Visitor visas Subclass 600
Short answer

Children may need extra evidence about parental consent, welfare arrangements, and whether the visit is in the child's best interests.

If a child under 18 applies for a Visitor visa, Home Affairs may check who has parental responsibility and whether the child has permission to travel or stay in Australia.

If the child is travelling with only one parent, a legal guardian, or another relative, consent evidence may be needed. This can include the relevant Home Affairs consent form or another acceptable written consent document, plus identity and relationship evidence.
