Student visas / Subclass 590

Who can be nominated as a subclass 590 Student Guardian?

Student visas Subclass 590
Short answer

Usually the guardian is the student's parent, custodian or an eligible relative aged at least 21 with the required written support.

The student generally needs to nominate the guardian. The nominating student usually needs to be under 18, and the guardian must be able to provide suitable accommodation, support and welfare.

Special cases can exist, including some bilateral interest or Foreign Affairs scholarship disability situations. Home Affairs also considers whether the person genuinely intends to stay temporarily as a student guardian and comply with visa rules.
