Bridging visas

Can I travel outside Australia on a bridging visa?

Bridging visas
Short answer

Usually no, unless you hold a bridging visa that includes a travel facility, such as a Bridging B visa during its travel period.

Most bridging visas are for remaining in Australia temporarily. They do not usually let you leave Australia and return.

A Bridging B visa can allow you to depart and re-enter Australia during the travel facility period. You normally need the BVB approved before you leave Australia, and your reasons for leaving and returning must be substantial.

Some Bridging F visas can also allow travel to and entry into Australia in specific circumstances.

If a bridging visa other than a Bridging B visa is in effect and you leave Australia, it usually ceases.

A BVB can also cease if its travel facility ends while you are outside Australia. If you want to return to Australia, check your visa and travel facility before leaving.
