The main bridging visa types are Bridging A, B, C, D, E, F and R. Each type is used for different immigration situations.
A Bridging A visa is commonly linked to a new visa application made while the person held a substantive visa. A Bridging B visa is generally for someone who already holds a Bridging A or Bridging B visa and needs a travel facility.
A Bridging C visa is generally linked to a visa application made when the person did not hold a substantive visa, subject to other limits. Bridging D and E visas cover more specific situations, including short-term or status resolution situations.
Bridging F visas relate to suspected victims of human trafficking, slavery or slavery-like practices and some family members. Bridging R visas relate to people in immigration detention where removal is not reasonably practicable and other requirements are met.
