Short answer
Subclass 601, often called an ETA, is a visitor visa for short tourism or business visitor trips to Australia.
An ETA can let an eligible traveller visit Australia temporarily for tourism or business visitor activities. It is not meant for long stays, ongoing residence, or work in Australia.
An ETA is usually linked to the passport used for the application. It can allow multiple trips while it is in effect, but each stay is limited. The exact travel permission and stay period must be checked on the visa grant details before travelling.
