Some people applying for a Student visa need to provide English language evidence. Some people do not need to, and some may only be asked in particular situations.
The English evidence you need depends on your situation, course, education provider, and any exemption that applies to you.
Some people do not need to provide English test evidence because an exemption applies. If an exemption clearly applies, Home Affairs should not ask that person to take an English test for this visa requirement.
Some people may be treated under simpler evidence settings. Even then, Home Affairs may ask for English evidence in particular situations, such as when there are concerns about English ability or the application includes lower English test results.
