You may be eligible if you are a current Australian permanent resident, a former Australian citizen, or a former Australian permanent resident whose most recent permanent visa was not cancelled.

Home Affairs first checks whether you currently hold, or previously held, Australian permanent residence or Australian citizenship.

A current Australian permanent resident may be able to apply for a Resident Return visa if they need a new travel facility.

A former Australian citizen may be able to apply if they lost or renounced Australian citizenship.

A former Australian permanent resident may be able to apply if their most recent permanent visa was not cancelled. If the status is unclear, Home Affairs may need alternative evidence because older records may not always be electronic.
