Some family members can be included, but they generally need to be part of a combined application and meet the family member rules.
If two or more people claim to be members of the same family unit, they must apply on the same form and at the same time and place. Each person listed in the combined application is an applicant in their own right.
A family member can include a spouse or de facto partner, certain children or step-children, and some dependent children of those children. Age, dependency and relationship rules can matter.
Secondary applicants cannot usually be approved before the main Carer visa applicant is approved. The sponsor must also include the family member in the sponsorship.
All applicants and some non-migrating family members may need to satisfy public interest criteria such as health and character requirements.
